Platinum Bars

There are a number of different platinum bars available to precious metals investors in the bullion market. These range in size from 1 gram to 1 Kilogram. The Swiss refineries, including PAMP, Argor Heraeus and Valcambi, manufacture some of the most popular platinum bars.

PAMP Fortuna Series

The PAMP Fortuna series of platinum bars is perhaps the most popular platinum bar available to investors today. These are available in 1 gram, 5 gram, 1 ounce, 10 ounce, 100 gram and 1 kilogram sizes. The design on the PAMP Fortuna platinum bar features an image of Lady Fortuna, and was one of the first precious metals bars to feature an artistic design on an investment bar. The most popular size bar for platinum investors is the 1 Ounce PAMP Platinum Fortuna Bar. The 10 Ounce PAMP Platinum bar is also quite popular with investors looking to place larger amounts of money into the precious metal.

The Fortuna Series of bars by PAMP is available in gold, silver, platinum and palladium.

The story of Lady Fortuna

The story of Lady Fortuna originated out of Roman society and mythology. Lady Fortuna was a symbol of luck and wealth. Lady Fortuna almost always appears with a veil, and in the design used on the PAMP Fortuna series she is blindfolded. She is holding her wealth in her hands.

All PAMP Fortuna platinum bars feature PAMP’s logo, with the weight, fineness and serial number of the bar on the back. Smaller bars are sealed in a plastic certicard, and larger bars are sold in a plastic case.

Credit Suisse

Credit Suisse is also a major manufacturer of platinum bars in the precious metals market. The bank does not refine the bars themselves – rather they are refined and manufactured by Valcambi on behalf of the bank. However, Credit Suisse was the first bank to launch a precious metals program that made smaller bars as a means of allowing their clients to invest in and purchase physical precious metals. Credit Suisse bars are available in gold, silver, platinum and palladium.

The most common Credit Suisse platinum bar available is the 1 Ounce Credit Suisse Platinum bar. Recently, Credit Suisse also launched a smaller bar series in platinum, called the Liberty Bar series. These platinum bars feature an image of Lady Liberty on one side, and are available in 1 gram, 2 gram, 5 gram, and 10 gram sizes.

All Credit Suisse Platinum bars are 99.95% fine investment grade platinum bullion.

Credit Suisse is an international financial institution, with its headquarters in Zurich.

Argor Heraeus

Argor Heraeus platinum bars are rarer than Credit Suisse or PAMP platinum bars, however they are of equal quality. They are produced by and manufactured by Argor Heraeus, who also manufacture the bars on behalf of Credit Suisse.

Argor Heraeus is one of the largest refineries in Switzerland, and and manufacturing investment grade bullion bars for collectors is a small part of their business. Argor Heraeus was founded in 1951, however in 1988, it was 100% acquired by and is now owned by Heraeus, which is one of Germany’s largest precious metals refineries. However, Argor Heraeus remains as the ‘Swiss’ branch of the company.

Argor Heraeus platinum remains popular, particularly amongst European precious metals investors. Swiss precious metals products have always remained the most sought after in the bullion market, due to their high quality and longstanding reputation.
