The 2023 gold 1/10 ounce American eagle coin is a bullion coin that narrates the history of America. The front of the coin is inscribed with the image of a bald eagle, the national symbol. The obverse also bears the country of origin, the face value, and the weight. The words “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” are also written on the front.
The reverse is engraved with a modern-looking image of lady liberty. She is depicted holding a burning torch on the right and an olive branch on the left. An image of a sun rising behind Capitol Hill is inscribed in the background. The word “LIBERTY” and a ring of stars appear on the edges.
Features of the Coin
The eagle design on the 2023 eagle gold coins started appearing on American coins in 2021. Jennie Norris, U.S mint’s designer came up with the American bald eagle design. The lady liberty image appearing at the back is a modification done by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907. The coins were released for the first time in 1986 after authorization from Congress.
