Description

Brand new 1/10 Ounce platinum British Britannia coin, released by the Royal Mint in the United Kingdom.

2020 is the third year that the British Britannia 1/10 Oz Coin coin has been available in platinum to precious metals investors.

The British Britannia coin series was first introduced in gold only. However, the series has grown increasingly popular among gold and silver investors, and was released first in silver, and then in platinum.  The silver and platinum British Britannia coins are both available in 1 Ounce sizes.

The front of each coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II, with the coin's face value of £10 incribed around the edge. The reverse side of the coin features an image of Lady Britannia, walking by the sea with a triden in one hand and a shield in the other.

The Royal Mint produces both the British Britannia and British Sovereign coin series, which are very popular with precious metals investors. In 2018, a 10 Ounce Valiant silver coin was also released.

British Britannia coins are especially popular for British investors, because there is no capital gains tax on these coins when they are sold.

In addition to the platinum British Britannia, there are a number of other platinum coins currently available that are also popular with precious metals investos, including the platinum American Eagle, platinum Maple Leaf and platinum Philharmonic.

The 2019 1/10 oz platinum British Britannia coin is a product of the Royal mint. This beautiful platinum coin is the second smallest coin in the Britannia Series. The Britannia coin series begun in 1987 when the Royal Mint issued the pioneering gold coins. In 1997, the Royal Mint introduced the silver version of the coin. The design of the gold and silver coins have undergone changes over the years in terms of metal purity and design. The high-quality design and the purity level have made the Platinum British Britannia coin a popular coin among investors and collectors.

The front of the coin is inscribed with the fifth-generation portrait of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is the second longest reigning monarch in the UK, and the current longest reigning monarch on earth. The image of queen inscribed on the coin is in right-profile relief. When the Romana conquered the British Isles in the first century AD, they gave it a new name, Britannia. Furthermore, the currency Emperor Adrian issued for the new province bore the image of lady Britannia. This was a personification of the feminine nature of the province. The image of lady Britannia continued to feature on the coins used in the Isles throughout the Roman occupation.

However, lady Britannia stopped featuring on the coins until 1672 when king Charles II issued the coins bearing the image. The symbol was used to reflect strength, integrity and courage of the British people. This made all subsequent monarchs to use the image on the coins.

The image of lady Britannia is also considered a symbol of strength and unity. Lady Britannia stands guarding the south coat ready to defend Britain from attacks. She holds a trident in her right hand and shield in her left. This gives her the power to control the sea and defend the Union Jack.
