These exquisitely designed 1/10 ounce Somalian Elephant gold bullion coins are part of the country's 'African Wildlife' coin series. The Elephant is currently available in gold in a 1 ounce and 1/10 ounce size. The series, which was first released in 2004, features a new image of an African Elephant on the front each year. The 2023 edition of the coin features an Elephant grabbing some leaves from a tree with his trunk. He stands in a sparsly vegetated savannah, and a Baobab tree stands in the distance. The sun is blazing down on him. The top of the coin features the words 'African Wildlife' and 'Elephant', while the coin's weight of 1/10 ounce, and purity of 9999 fine are imprinted towards the bottom.

The reverse side of the coin features the words 'Somali Republic' at the top, with the official Somali coat of arms in the center. The Somali coat of arms features two leopards facing the country's shield in the middle. The coin's year of minting appears on either side of the coat of arms. The bottom of the coin features its face value of 100 Shillings. These Somalian coins are minted by the Bavarian state mint, which is Bavaria's oldest private company. The coin's legal tender value in Shillings coupled with its minting by Bavaria's oldest mint highlight the country's history as a German colony.
