The half-ounce 2022 gold philharmonic coin is a beautiful bullion coin with a fine finish. The obverse bears a beautiful image of the front view of the Vienna Concert Hall. The front is also inscribed with the weight, purity level, day of manufacture, and face value. The back of the coin is engraved with the musical instruments used by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The instruments consist of four violins, a harp, a bassoon, and a horn. The words WEINER PHILHARMONIKER are also inscribed on the reverse.

The first gold philharmonic coins were struck in 1989 in two weights. They included the 1 ounce and ¼ ounce gold coins, which were available from 1989 to 1991. The 1/10 gold coin was added into the series in 1991 while the 1/25 ounce was struck in 2014.
