The original front design of the coin was done by the Chief Engraver of the US Mint, John Mercanti back in 1997. The design is a depiction of the statue of Liberty. Below the statue is the year the coin was minted and the four words that feature on all US currencies, “In God We Trust.” Rear DesignThe rear design changes on a yearly basis. Currently, the design on the back features the work of designer Justin Kunz and Sculptor Joseph Menna.
