Description

Tube of 20 x 1 Ounce 2021 Silver Philharmonics

The 2021 Austrian Silver Philharmonic coin is a newly released product from the Austrian Mint. The coin was produced for the first time in February 2008 in brilliant uncirculated condition. The coins were produced in the honor of the Viennese Philharmonic Orchestra. Individual coins weigh 1 ounce and contain silver that is .999 pure.

The Austrian Philharmonic coins are also minted in gold and platinum. The design of philharmonic coins was inspired by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra founded in 1842. The orchestra is considered one of the best in the world. For musicians to be admitted into the orchestra, they must undergo rigorous vetting.

The Features of the 1 Ounce 2021 Silver Philharmonics Coin Tube of 20

  • The coins contain 1 ounce of .999 pure silver in brilliant uncirculated condition.
  • Each silver Philharmonic coin has a face value of 1.50 Euro guaranteed by the Federal government of Austria.
  • The front of the coin is inscribed with the Great Organ from the Golden Concert Hall.
  • The back bears the image of a collection of musical instruments.
  • Individual coins come in protective plastic flips while larger orders ship in mint tubes containing 20 coins each. Large orders of 500 coins ship in Monster Boxes.
  • The release of the 2021 silver Philharmonic coins marked the 14th anniversary since the coins were produced for the first time.

The silver Philharmonic coin series was produced for the first time in 1989 when the Austrian Gold Philharmonic was introduced. In 2008, the Austrian Mint introduced the silver Philharmonic coin. In 2016, the Mint introduced platinum Philharmonic coins to complete the series.

The front of the silver Philharmonic bears an image of the Great Organ. This is a large musical instrument built to resemble the structure of the Golden Concert Hall. The venue where the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra performs in Austria is called Musikverein.

The back of the silver Philharmonic coin bears the image of eight instruments used by the Vienna Orchestra. The design has a cello at the centre surrounded by two violins on the side. The French horn, the harp, and the bassoon appear in the background.

When the Austrian Philharmonic silver coins were produced for the first time in 2008, 7.773 million coins were minted. A few years after the first coin was produced the demand for the Austrian Philharmonic coin went up every year. For instance, in 2009 the number of silver Philharmonic coins in circulation was 9.014 million. In 2010 the number grew to 11.358 million while in 2011, the coins reached a record high of 17.873 million.
