The front of the 1 ounce silver round is adorned with the head of an Indian in profile wearing a feather headdress and on the back there is an American buffalo. The design can be traced back to the famous sculptor James Earle Fraser (1876-1953) and is based on an historical nickel (minted 1913-1938).
