The ½ ounce 2022 gold American eagle coin is a brilliant bullion coin with an artistic finish. The front of the coin is engraved with an image of an American eagle in profile. The front also bears the country of origin, the face value, and the weight. The words “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” are also inscribed on the front.

The reverse is inscribed with the modern image of lady liberty. She is holding a flaming torch on her right and an olive branch on her left. An image of a rising sun, behind Capitol Hill, is inscribed in the background. The back also bears the year of manufacture and a ring of stars.

The pioneering American gold eagle coins were produced in ½ Oz in 1986. The original design featured a family of bald eagles as done by Miley Busiek. The new Eagle design appearing on the front of the 2022 gold American eagle coin was done by Jennie Norris.
