The ¼ ounce 2023 gold kangaroo coin is a bullion coin minted using advanced technology, which is evident in the coin's fine finish. The front of the coin is engraved with a modern-looking image of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a state crown on the right profile. The obverse also bears the country of origin, the name of the monarch, and the face value.

The back of the gold kangaroo coin bears the image of two hopping kangaroos, a mother, and a joey. The reverse is inscribed with the weight, purity level, and the year of manufacture. The back is also engraved with the words “GOLD” and KANGAROO.
